Vehicle Overview

The 2014 Nissan Murano fills the midsize crossover spot in the Nissan lineup, offering room for five passengers and V-6 power. With its sleek design, the Murano is also one of the more stylish in its class.

All Murano models are powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 producing 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque, which comes mated exclusively to a CVT. Four trim levels are available, including S, SV, SL, and LE. Each comes in front- or all-wheel drive. The available all-wheel drive system uses the Vehicle Dynamic Control to help provide improved traction in a range of different conditions. S models get 18-inch alloy wheels, halogen headlights, remote keyless entry, and push-button start as standard, while SV models add roof rails, foglights, auto on/off headlights, and Bluetooth. The SL comes standard with leather interior and heated front seats, and also features an 11-speaker Bose audio system, Dual Panel moonroof, and 60/40 split flat-folding rear seats. The range-topping LE gets all of those features plus 20-inch alloy wheels, HID headlights, and heated rear seats and steering wheel.

Nissan calls the Murano's interior a "mobile suite," with its modern touches, array of available tech features, and ambient lighting used on the dash and center console. We liked the interior of the Murano in our last review, saying, "Materials are soft to the touch and are higher quality than before, the center stack is more elegant -- and, thankfully, more streamlined."

New for 2014

With the next-gen model arriving for 2015, changes were minimal for 2014. The Murano's Safety Shield suite bundled with the Navigation package now includes Moving Object Detection along with the existing blind-spot warning and lane departure warning systems. Also new for 2014 is a black interior with Tinted Bronze exterior combo.
