The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the 2015 Ford Expedition a five-star Overall Vehicle Score, the highest possible government safety rating, thanks in part to standard comprehensive safety systems like AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, Safety Canopy side curtain airbags, and an SOS Post-Crash Alert System.

The 2015 Ford Expedition earned five stars in all of the NHTSA's categories except rollover, where rear-wheel-drive models scored three stars and 4x4 models scored four. Under recommended technologies, NHTSA lists the rearview camera option for both models, which is fine since that feature is now offered standard.

For the new model year, Ford has added driver-assist features including the available radar-based Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert. In addition to the standard rearview camera, the Expedition now gets keyless entry and ignition and rear parking sensors as standard for the 2015 model year.

The 2015 Ford Expedition is powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine that pumps out 365 horses and 420 lb-ft of torque. The EcoBoost is now the only engine option for the North American market, and yields an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 16/22 mpg city/highway. The new Expedition offers best-in-class cargo capacity on the extended-length model at up to 130.8 with the second and third-row seats folded flat.
