With the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang approaching, it’s no surprise that the Blue Oval will offer a special anniversary edition model. A 2015 Ford Mustang GT 50th Anniversary prototype has been spotted prowling the streets as seen in these images.

Based on the 2015 Mustang GT, the 50th Anniversary prototype model features different details than the standard production model shown in December. The 2015 Mustang GT 50th Anniversary prototype sports a new grille with a "corralled" running pony emblem, Brembo brakes set behind new dark-finish, split-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires. Camouflage on the rear quarter windows could be hiding a modern interpretation of the first-generation Mustang’s rear quarter window louvers. All 50th Anniversary models will reportedly be based on the 5.0-liter V-8-powered GT model, and will come in any color you want as long as that color is white. Updates to the 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 (bigger intake and exhaust valves, a higher-lift cam profile, the former Boss 302 valve springs and connecting rods, and an oil cooler) should give the 2015 GT noticeably more power than the current car ’s 420 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Expect the 2015 Ford Mustang GT 50th Anniversary model to debut at the 2014 New York International Auto Show with press days starting April 16.
