New for 2015

The 2015 Ford Transit Connect remains mostly unchanged except for the addition of a new exterior color called Magnetic.

Vehicle Summary

The 2015 Transit Connect is a compact commercial vehicle sold in wagon and cargo variants. It is available in short- and long-wheelbase variants and in XL, XLT, and Titanium grades. Prices for the Transit Connect range from $23,195 (with destination) to more than $30,000 for a Titanium-level Transit Connect Wagon.

Overview

The 2015 Ford Transit Connect is available with two four-cylinder engines: a 2.5-liter I-4 with 169 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque or a turbocharged 1.6-liter I-4 making 178 hp and 184 lb-ft linked to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel economy is impressive for a commercial vehicle with cargo variants achieving 21/29 mpg city/highway and wagon models rated 22/28 mpg with the 2.5-liter. All Transit Connects with the turbocharged 1.6-liter I-4 are more fuel-efficient at 22/30 mpg but require premium fuel for best performance.

Interior space is generous with a maximum passenger capacity of seven for wagon variants and up to 128.6 cubic feet of cargo space in long-wheelbase vans. Tech features such as MyFord Touch give buyers the ability to add an infotainment system that allows for smartphone integration and connectivity.

The 2015 Transit Connect Wagon has a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA with the cargo variant and has a four-star front and five-star side impact score (out of a possible five stars).

What We Think

The 2015 Transit Connect is a viable commercial vehicle for use in urban areas with small streets and tight spaces. During the evaluations for Motor Trend's 2014 Truck of the Year, we praised the van for having "excellent handling and steering," which made it feel "very carlike." Additionally, it comes with engines that "had great power even while carrying 75 percent of its payload capacity."
