The Honda Civic experienced a considerable overhaul for the 2014 model year, and this year it will welcome another model into its lineup. The 2015 Honda Civic SE (Special Edition) will hit showrooms this fall with a handful of technology, convenience, and style upgrades that position it between the base Civic LX and the mid-range Civic EX.

Research

Compared with the base Civic LX, the 2015 Honda Civic SE adds 15-inch alloy wheels with black inserts, automatic climate control, Honda's 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio with LaneWatch, and a six-speaker audio system. Arriving exclusively in sedan form, the 2015 Honda Civic SE will come equipped with the same 1.8-liter four-cylinder making 143 hp as other Civics, paired with a continuously variable transmission (a five-speed manual is available on LX and EX coupes and the LX sedan). The 2015 Honda Civic SE includes some of the model's most popular features at only a $700 premium over the Civic LX sedan, even though Honda claims it packs $1100 worth of equipment.

Fuel economy for the 2015 Honda Civic SE equals that of other CVT-equipped Civic sedans, 30/39/33 mpg (city/highway/combined), whereas models with the five-speed manual achieve 28/26/31 mpg. Top fuel economy in the Civic range comes from the HF model, which ekes out ratings of 31/45/35 mpg (city/highway/combined).

As before, standard equipment for all 2015 Honda Civic models includes hands-free Bluetooth, a Pandora-capable four-speaker sound system, a rearview camera, and 15-inch steel wheels. The base Civic LX starts at $19,080 in coupe form or $19,280 for the sedan, when paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The Civic EX coupe is $21,180 with a manual transmission or $21,980 with the CVT, and the EX sedan comes only with the CVT for $21,980. The priciest 2015 Honda Civic is the EX-L with Navigation, which rings in at $24,930 as a coupe and $25,130 as a sedan. Pricing for the 2015 versions of the sporty Honda Civic Si, as well as the thrifty Hybrid and Natural Gas models, has yet to be announced.

Look for the special-edition 2015 Honda Civic to hit showrooms this fall alongside coupe and sedan versions of the high-revving Civic Si, Civic Hybrid, and Civic Natural Gas.
