The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced that the 2015 Nissan Murano has earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating, making it the only midsize SUV to receive the designation. In order to earn this rating, a vehicle must score "good" or "acceptable" in its five crash tests, and either an "advanced" or "superior" in the front crash prevention test.

The Murano scored "good" in all five test categories, with a "superior" rating in front crash protection with models equipped with the optional Forward Emergency Braking.

The 2015 Nissan Murano features a standard Nissan Advanced Air Bag System (AABS), seat belt and occupant classification sensors, Zone Body construction with front and rear crumple zones, along with the available Around View Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD). This available system helps enhance driver situational awareness with visual and audible warnings if a moving object is detected when parking or backing up.

When equipped with the technology package, the 2015 Nissan Murano also receives the "Safety Shield" suite of safety features, which adds Intelligent Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Forward Emergency Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
