New for 2015

The 2015 Ram Cargo Van is unchanged.

Vehicle Summary

The 2015 Ram Cargo Van is a small commercial vehicle based on the Dodge Grand Caravan. Its sole engine, a 3.6-liter V-6 with 283 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

With one of the strongest engines in its class, the 2015 Ram Cargo Van is relatively quick. Fuel economy is still decent, at 17/25 mpg city/highway, though newer compact commercial vans get better city mileage. The ride of the Ram Cargo Van, sometimes known simply as the C/V, is also a strong point, because it remains smooth despite being reinforced for commercial duty.

Cargo space is generous in the 2015 Ram Cargo Van, with up to 155.5 cubic feet, making it best in-class among small vans. Additionally, it is also offered with a reasonable number of tech features including UConnect Web, which gives owners the ability to turn the car into a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth connectivity. The 2015 Ram Cargo Van has a four-star frontal crash safety rating from the NHTSA (out of a possible five stars).

What We Think

The 2015 Ram Cargo Van remains a viable choice for buyers looking for a small, maneuverable commercial vehicle with ample power and space. Its standard V-6 engine gives it more power than its competing vehicles without sacrificing maneuverability in small areas. However, due to the reinforcements made to allow the van to carry more payload, we noted in a 2012 First Drive review that the ride is "much firmer" than its non-commercial counterparts. While there are many tech features available, the rearview camera is packaged with the navigation system instead of being available on lower trims.
