Thanks to its newly available EyeSight technology, the 2015 Subaru Impreza has earned a Top Safety Pick + rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Like last year, the Impreza earned Good ratings in all crash categories, including the difficult small overlap test. But new rules issued in 2014 require TSP+ cars to offer some form of front crash prevention technology, preventing the Impreza from earning the coveted distinction that year. For 2015, the Impreza satisfies this requirement by offering a new Eyesight package on the 2.0i Limited and 2.0i Sport Limited trims. Along with pre-collision braking, the technology also brings together adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning. 2015 Subaru Impreza© Provided by MotorTrend 2015 Subaru Impreza

When equipped with Eyesight, the Impreza not only passed tests for front crash prevention technology, but earned a Superior rating from IIHS. The Impreza was able to avoid collisions at both 12 and 25 mph using pre-collision warnings and automatic braking. EyeSight technology is also available on the Subaru Outback and Forester SUVs.

Only a few of the Impreza's competitors have earned TSP+ status. The top-rated 2014 Honda Civic, 2014 Mazda3, and 2015 Volkswagen Golf stand out among a sea of TSP small cars that don't have the "+" distinction.
