This episode of Head 2 Head features the 2014 Ford Focus ST , which host Jonny Lieberman says is considered one of the best performance cars by many Motor Trend staffers. With that in mind, Lieberman is tasked with comparing Ford's hot hatch to the all-new 2015 Subaru WRX, which enters the world in sedan form only.

Objective numbers for both cars are very similar. Both carry an as-tested price of around $30,000 and put out about the same power from a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. But once the cars are let loose on the track, the Subaru pulls away in almost every test including the 0-60 mph sprint, which the WRX completed in 5.5 seconds versus 6.2 seconds for the Focus ST. The 2015 WRX was half a second faster than the Ford around the Figure Eight, posting a lap time of 25.3 seconds.

What Jonny wants to find out, however, is how much fun the cars are on curvy roads. He starts off with the Focus ST and is impressed with its supercar-like turn in, which he says is just as precise and responsive as the McLaren 12C. But while the Ford is fun, Jonny notes that its tendency to oversteer and slight torque steer can kill some of the joy. On the flip side the WRX is confidence inspiring, so much so that Jonny conquers much of the canyon road without the Subaru's electronic aids, something he wasn't comfortable doing in the Ford. So which turbocharged performance car wins this round? Watch the video (and its surprise ending) to find out.
