Vehicle Overview

The recipient of new styling last year, the 2015 Volvo S60 gets a handful of new engines for the new model year. This year, Volvo adds two new Drive-E engines to the 2015 S60. Though the name might lead you to believe that the S60 has gone hybrid, the Drive-E engines are actually just fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines.

The 2015 Volvo S60 has four engines in its lineup. The Drive-E engines are based on a 2.0-liter, turbocharged I-4. The S60 T5 Drive-E makes 240 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, while the S60 Drive-E adds a supercharger to go with the turbo, resulting in a power output of 302 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Volvo also offers five- and six-cylinder engines in the S60. The S60 T5 sports a 2.5-liter, turbocharged I-5 making 250 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque, while the S60 T6 has a 3.0-liter, turbocharged I-6 making 325 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. All S60s have eight-speed automatic transmissions and are offered in front- or all-wheel drive.

The Volvo S60 is a staff favorite in all forms. Though we found the new T5 Drive-E engine to lack emotion, both it and the T6 Drive-E pull strongly throughout the rev range. Though the 2015 S60 isn't as outright sporty as competitors like the Cadillac ATS, it's still an excellent driving car and a wonderfully capable long-distance cruiser.

New for 2015

The 2015 Volvo S60 gets a few minor trim changes in addition to the new Drive-E engines. Power front seats are now standard across the board, and a handful of new options include Park Assist Pilot, which will park the S60 for the driver.

UPDATE : Volvo will add two new S60 variants for the 2016 model year. The first is the S60 Cross Country, which has increased ground clearance and all-wheel drive as standard. Read more about the S60 Cross Country here. The second is the S60 Inscription, a long wheelbase model with extra features such as 19-inch alloy wheels, silk metal and Linear Walnut accents, and interior mood lighting, that will join the lineup in summer 2015. Two trim levels will be available on the S60 Inscription: Premier, which includes leather upholstery, a power moonroof, and navigation. Opting for the Platinum grade adds more features such as a Harman Kardon sound system, HID headlights, expanded infotainment system with functions such as a Wi-Fi hotspot and smartphone tethering.
