The 2016 Acura ILX was unveiled today at the Los Angeles auto show, and it represents a re-do of sorts for the automaker as it seeks to really figure out what millennials want (aside from having jobs with a living wage, that is). On that front, Acura went back to the drawing board and returned with a heavily updated ILX that it hopes will catch on with this generation like the Integra did over a decade ago.

That magic comes in the form of the TLX's 2.4-liter I-4, which replaces the Civic -sourced engines found in the ILX before. The new 2.4 makes 201 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, and is mated to the bigger Acura's torque-converter-equipped eight-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Because millennials are rarely impressed with powertrains though (according to Acura), the 2016 ILX sports new technology to make it more appealing to younger buyers. Acura's Mike Accavitti summed it up best: "Pardon the pun, but the 2016 ILX is 'in-tune' to the needs of millennial buyers."

Sigh.
