Complete with powertrain and styling changes, the 2016 Acura ILX will make its debut at next month's Los Angeles auto show.

Acura promises a "sharper performance focus" on the new ILX with changes made under the hood and to the sportier exterior. The 2016 ILX brings a "substantially upgraded" interior design with a new stable of comfort, convenience, and safety features. Beyond this, all we know about the model is what we can see from a single teaser image, which reveals little more than the car's redesigned taillights.

Research

The current ILX is relatively new, having debuted for the 2013 model year. This entry-level premium sedan currently sells for $27,945 including destination, placing it at the lower end of the luxury car price spectrum. Currently, it comes with either a 150-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a 201-hp manual-only 2.4-liter. Our long-term 2013 ILX came with the more powerful engine, and while we deemed it had enthusiast car potential, its 6.4-second 0-60 mph time didn't break any records.

We expect the new ILX will take a few cues from the all-new TLX, which receives more interior space, improved handling, upgraded fuel economy, more power, and next-generation AcuraLink infotainment. This midsize model slots right above the ILX.

The 2016 Acura ILX will make its debut on November 20 right before the L.A. auto show opens to the public.
