Audi's show-stopper in Detroit this week was the all-new Q7, but the automaker also debuted a refreshed Q3 with updated engines and styling. The 2016 Audi Q3 will hit global markets starting in February.

We don't have specific details for the U.S-bound 2016 Q3 yet, but the yellow Q3 we saw in Detroit reveals plenty of visual changes. Most notably, a new Singleframe grille reshapes the front end of the car, as do entirely new bumpers. Also ever-so-slightly revised are the headlights and taillights. The dimensions of the new Q3 are almost the same as the previous Euro Q3. 2016 Audi Q3© Provided by MotorTrend 2016 Audi Q3

Expect 20 more horsepower on the 2.0-liter turbo gas four-cylinder engine that is currently the sole powertrain choice in the U.S. The European version now boasts 220 hp, and is mated to a new six-speed DSG instead of last year's regular six-speed automatic. Other global engines vary in displacement from 1.4-liters on the least-powerful models to 2.5-liters on the sporty RS model, which won't be coming to the U.S. But word is still out on whether or not we will get a diesel model, which could help boost Audi's growing TDI portfolio stateside.

Inside, the Q3 receives very few changes, including a new luggage compartment cover and more chrome trim. Options on global models include Audi side assist, active lane assist, adaptive dampers, LED headlights, and hill descent assist. The same MMI Navigation plus system makes its way to the new Q3 as well. 2016 Audi Q3© Provided by MotorTrend 2016 Audi Q3

Those who have been following the Q3 in the U.S. market may wonder why Audi is debuting a revised version after the crossover just debuted for the 2015 model year. In Europe, the Q3 has actually been around a lot longer, and is in need of a refresh. Audi will sell the new Q3 in Europe next month starting at just under $35,000, but a U.S. launch date has not yet been announced.
