Official power figures for the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V have been revealed. The sporty premium compact sedan and coupe is SAE-certified at 464 hp and 444 lb-ft of torque. That’s an increase of 9 hp and a decrease of 1 lb-ft over the automaker’s original estimate.

The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V is powered by a twin-turbo 3.6-liter LF4 V-6 mated to a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels. The six-speed manual features Active Rev Match and no-lift shifting and launch control, while the eight-speed auto features launch control and Performance Algorithm Shift. Cadillac claims the 2016 ATS-V can reach 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 189 mph.

At 464 hp, the ATS-V has 39 hp and 38 lb-ft on the BMW M3 and M4, which make 425 hp and 406 lb-ft from a twin-turbo 3.0-liter I-6. The Lexus RC F with its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V-8 has a 3-hp advantage over the ATS-V, but is down 55 lb-ft. Meanwhile, the Mercedes-AMG C63 makes 469 hp and 479 lb-ft from a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 in standard trim, and 503 hp and 516 lb-ft in S model trim.

While the engine is related to the 420-hp/430-hp 3.6-liter twin-turbo V-6 in the Cadillac CTS Vsport, the ATS-V's LF4 features upgraded quicker-spooling turbochargers, an upgraded intercooler, lightweight titanium connecting rods, and redesigned oiling system.

Other upgrades over the standard ATS include a high-performance Brembo brake system, third-generation Magnetic Ride Control suspension, a Performance Traction Management system, and driver-selectable driving modes. Structural stiffness is said to be 25 percent higher than regular ATS models for improved handling. Enhancements include a shock tower-to-plenum brace, strengthened bulkhead, and additional chassis bracing.

A vented carbon fiber hood keeps under hood temperatures low, while an available aerodynamics package adds downforce for high-speed handling. Like the C7 Chevrolet Corvette, the 2016 ATS-V features an available Performance Data Recorder with high-definition camera to record lap times, data overlays, and more.

The suspension has been revised for quicker response with revised geometry and stiffer bushings, springs, and stabilizer bar, while the electronic steering system has also been reinforced. An electronic limited-slip differential is standard, and a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires round out the performance changes.
