2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition Pays Homage to Race Cars

Chevrolet now has an answer for buyers who wish their Corvette Z06 looked a little bit more like a racing car. The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition, limited to just 500 examples, is an appearance package that pays homage to the successful Corvette Racing C7.R cars.

Based on a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with the optional Z07 performance package, the C7.R Edition adds various stickers and graphics, black wheels with a yellow lip and Corvette Racing center caps; Spectra Gray Metallic exterior grille inserts; an exposed carbon-fiber hood section; Jet Black leather upholstery with microfiber accents and yellow stitching; suede microfiber trim for the seats, steering wheel, and shifter; new Corvette Racing door sill plates; a special C7.R-branded car cover, and a serial plate reflecting the sequential VINs of each of the 500 C7.R cars, with the first car's VIN ending 700001.

The C7.R Edition is available in yellow or black, and as either a coupe or convertible.

Other equipment tweaks for the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 include the addition of Corvette Racing Yellow and Long Beach Red Metallic paint colors, a front "curb view" parking camera, an updated version of the MyLink infotainment system, and various new design and trim packages. The new Twilight Blue Design, Spice Red Design (shown), and Jet Black Suede Design packages each add specially selected color accents for the car's interior, wheels, exterior trim, and convertible top.

With the standard 7-speed manual transmission, Chevrolet says the Z06 will run to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, while opting for the 8-speed automatic transmission shaves that time to just 2.95 seconds.

The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 goes on sale this summer.
