2016 Ford F-150 Gets New Special Edition Appearance Package Option

With all the special-edition appearance packages released for GM trucks in the past few months, Ford is now launching some cosmetic goodies of its own. A new Special Edition Appearance Package has just been announced for certain 2016 Ford F-150 models. The new package will be available on F-150 XLT and F-150 Lariat trims with the Sport Appearance Package.

Visual upgrades in the Special Edition Appearance Package for the 2016 Ford F-150 XLT and Lariat models include smoked headlights, black running boards, body-side graphics and badges, and unique 20-inch alloy wheels featuring an anodized dark-painted finish with red sport lettering. Other exterior bits include a dark anodized grille with black mesh on XLT models and a dark anodized grille with red accents on Lariat models.

Inside, the Special Edition Appearance Package includes special-edition seats with Alcantara inserts and red bolsters. Red contrast stitching is used on the seats, steering wheel, instrument panel, and gear shift boot.

Other updates to the 2016 Ford F-150 include the automaker’s SYNC 3 infotainment system with improved voice recognition, faster speed, capacitive touchscreen, and new graphics as well as the previously announced Pro Trailer Backup Assist and the available compressed natural gas/propane gaseous fuel prep package for the 5.0-liter V-8 engine. The 2016 Ford F-150 XL is also available with 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with silver painted pockets. Additionally, Shadow Black replaces Tuxedo Black and Lithium Gray replaces Guard Metallic on the exterior paint palette.
