The Honda Fit entered its third generation for the 2015 model year, and hit the ground running with strong sales numbers. For 2016, the Fit offers best-in-class cargo and passenger space, as well as 41 mpg highway, sporty driving dynamics, and a starting price of $16,610. Prices for all 2016 Fit hatchbacks increase $140 over the previous model.

The 2016 Honda Fit is mostly a carryover model, sporting the same exterior design introduced for 2015, which includes a new solid grille with integrated headlights. Eight exterior paint colors are available. Inside, soft-touch materials surround the cabin, while the optional Display Audio touchscreen interface and leather seating give the interior a premium finish.

Honda will offer the 2016 Fit in three different trim levels, the LX, EX, and EX-L. Both the LX and EX have the option of a manual transmission, while the EX-L is strictly available with the CVT. On EX and LX models, the CVT is an $800 option. The EX manual starts at $18,520, while the EX-L starts at $20,885. Adding navigation on the EX-L costs an extra $1,000.

Power comes from the Earth Dreams Technology direct-injected 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is paired with either the slick-shifting six-speed manual transmission or a CVT with G-Shift Control. The engine produces 130 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 29/37/32 mpg city/highway/combined for models equipped with the manual, while the LX with the CVT gets 33/41/36, and the EX and EX-L with the CVT achieve 32/38/35.

Thanks to an array of standard and available safety features like Honda Lane Watch and a standard multi-angle rearview camera, the 2016 Honda Fit has earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick and a five-star Overall Vehicle Score from the NHTSA.

The 2016 Honda Fit will hit showroom floors nationwide on July 1.
