Despite undergoing a complete Lincoln MKX First Look" target="_blank">redesign for the 2016 model year, Lincoln's midsize crossover is actually less expensive than the previous model. The 2016 Lincoln MKX starts at $38,995 with destination, slashing $800 off the last model's price.

The base model receives a 3.7-liter V-6 engine that produces 300 hp. Opting for all-wheel drive adds an extra $2,495 to the total cost. Models with the all-new 2.7-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine, delivering 335 hp, begin at $40,995 when paired with front-wheel drive and $43,490 with all-wheel drive. Along with the new engine, a price cut on the MKX may help reverse slumping sales, which are down 40 percent for the model so far this year through May.

Standard features on the MKX include heated front seats, 18-inch aluminum wheels, LED tailamps, capless refueling, rearview camera and reverse sensing system, welcome mat, Sirius satellite radio, and Sync with MyLincoln Touch. A Select package, worth $3,290, is available on all MKX models. It adds leather seats, heated power folding mirrors, LED DRLs, hands-free power liftgate, and other features. Opting for the Reserve package brings prices up by $7,055 and tacks on 20-inch wheels, navigation, cooled front seats, adaptive headlamps, and other features. Also expect a Black Label package for the model -- available with special interior treatments and an exclusive concierge service.

Other notable options include a $1,650 Driver Assistance package with a variety of safety aids, a $4,400 Luxury Package with an updated audio system and full-LED headlamps, a $1,995 rear seat DVD entertainment system. As for some of its more unusual options, look for 22-way adjustable front seats, inflatable rear seat belts, and enhanced security system with secondary horn and lockable interior storage.
