Move over GT-R, the 2016 Nissan Maxima has arrived with more power and tech, as well as a profile that won't ever be confused with a Chevrolet Impala, Toyota Avalon, or Ford Taurus. While the GT-R functions as the Nissan brand's performance flagship, the redesigned 2016 Maxima serves as a more accessible sedan flagship, with a price range that starts at $33,235 and crests $40,000 with every option. 0 - The number of manual transmission options offered by the Maxima -- called a 4-Door Sports Car by the automaker -- as well as the supercar-shaming 545-600-hp GT-R. In the First Drive review, Scott Burgess calls the CVT one of the best he's ever tested. All Maximas have a manual gate for the shifter, and the sportier SR model adds paddle shifters. 2006 - Last model year Nissan offered a manual-transmission Maxima in the U.S.

7 - The number of degrees the 2016 Maxima's center stack is canted toward the driver, a useful detail you notice from behind the wheel. Also from the Department of Useless Trivia, the GT-R (at 6.3 degrees) is currently the only other Nissan that has a similar design feature, Maxima product manager Vishnu Jayamohan tells us.

3/8 - Amount of the throttle opening that must be depressed before the 2016 Maxima realizes you mean serious business, and the car responds with stepped shifts at higher rpms. The CVT is responsive enough in normal mode, but feels "like a quick-shifting six-speed" in Sport mode, Burgess said in our First Drive review.

3rd - The finish of a last-generation Maxima in a 2013 comparison against the Toyota Avalon and Hyundai Azera, which finished first and second, respectively. We said the 2013 Maxima felt "slightly antiquated" and was "seriously lacking in interior room," but still proved lots of fun on winding roads.

8 - Number of Maxima generations since the first-generation model debuted in the early 1980s. The 2016 model begins the nameplate's eighth generation.
