Range Rover teased us with an image of the updated Evoque earlier this month, but instead of waiting until the stylish crossover's big debut at the Geneva motor show to reveal all the details, the automaker has jumped the gun and released important information on the new model.

Research

From the teaser image, we were able to see that the Evoque wore redesigned full LED adaptive headlights, but now we can see that the redesign brings about much more than just new lights. The Evoque sports a new front bumper, two new grille designs, three new wheel designs, enlarged air inlets, and a redesigned rear spoiler. Changes inside include new seats and door casings, a new 8-inch infotainment screen, revised gauge cluster, and new colors and materials for the upholstery. Drivers will now be able to swipe though the touchscreen, while other convenience features include a hands-free tailgate system. New safety features include lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, and attention assist. Changes depend on the trim, which have been aligned with the Range Rover Sport. That means choices for the Evoque now include Pure, SE, HSE, HSE Dynamic, and Autobiography. 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque© Provided by MotorTrend 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

But the big news lies underneath the hood. Though we're still not sure which engines we'll get here in the U.S , the global Evoque gets more efficient with a new diesel engine option that puts out either 148 or 178 hp. Range Rover says the 148 hp engine is 18 percent more efficient than before and goes 28 percent longer between services. The 240-hp gasoline engine still tops the available outputs. The current Evoque features a standard 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 240 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. From the 2014 model year onward, this engine has been paired with a new nine-speed automatic transmission for better fuel economy.2016 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque© Provided by MotorTrend 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

Land Rover boasts the 2016 Evoque is its most efficient product, and with that, the improved Evoque becomes the automaker's first "E-Capability" variant. These variants will be the more efficient ones in the lineup and set themselves apart by wearing a blue badge.
