2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport Updates Announced, Priced From $38,690

Updates to the 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport have been released. The automaker has also revealed the base price, which starts at $38,690 (including $995 destination).

Discovery Sport models in HSE and HSE LUX trims are available with a new Dynamic Design Pack that adds unique exterior and interior details. Exterior changes include front and rear bumpers with integrated exhaust tips, black accents, and 20-inch alloy wheels with a gloss-black finish. Inside, the package adds contrast stitching on the leather seats and gearshift knob, unique carpeted floor mats, and a metal finish to the pedals and center dash trim.

Four new paint colors have been added to the palette, including Silicon Silver, Farallon Black, Carpathian Grey, and Aruba Metallic.

Other available options include the automaker's InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen. Land Rover says the system's menus are as intuitive as those on a smartphone and can be navigated by swiping and pinching. The InControl Touch Pro system uses a high-performance Intel Quad-Core computing and graphics processor and a fast Solid State Drive (SSD), while the display screen features a wide 21:9 ratio screen.

The Discovery Sport is also available with three new driver assist technologies, including Driver Condition Monitor, Intelligent Speed Limiter, and Lane Keep Assist. Driver Condition Monitor monitors various driver inputs to look for signs of driver fatigue. Intelligent Speed Limiter uses the Traffic Sign Recognition feature to prompt the driver to maintain changing speed limits and can even keep the vehicle from exceeding the posted limit. The Lane Keeping Assist's camera monitors lane markings and will return the vehicle to the center of the lane if the driver begins to change lanes without signaling.

The 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport is the first vehicle available with the Tile advanced tracking app and is compatible with Android and iOS platforms. The app tracks important items via tiny Bluetooth tracker Tile tags and can alert the driver when an item is not in the vehicle. The app can even give on-screen directions to the tagged item's last known location. Tile tags can be applied to wallets, purses, bags, electronic devices, and more. The app can also find items that are lost inside the vehicle by sounding a 90-decible alarm on the tag.
