Renowned German tuning company AC Schnitzer announced a new package offered for the BMW i8 hybrid sports car. The new package features a new aerodynamic body kit, new wheels, and a lowered ride height.

To differentiate its version from a regular BMW i8, AC Schnitzer installs lowering springs that provide a 1.0-inch drop in the front, and 0.8-inch drop in ride height on the rear. To match this more aggressive stance, AC Schnitzer adds carbon fiber front spoiler pieces, along with carbon fiber side skirts and a prominent carbon fiber rear wing.

The lightweight wheels are nearly 30 percent lighter than the standard BMW i8 rolling stock, which is claimed to improve the i8's dynamic handling and fuel economy. The 21-inch wheels are shod with 245/35 tires in the front and 285/30 tires in the rear.

Despite the aggressive new appearance, AC Schnitzer has not touched the drivetrain of the BMW i8. The plug-in hybrid uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-three churning out 231 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The little three-pot gets a power boost from an electric motor, which sends 129 hp and 184 lb-ft of to the front wheels, for a combined output of 362 hp and 420 lb-ft.
