Good news for car enthusiasts: The BBC will air the remaining episodes of the season of "Top Gear" this summer. The BBC announced today that even after firing former host Clarkson over the alleged assault of one of the show's producer, episodes that were filmed previously will be broadcast this summer.

The show is currently in its 22nd series, but the BBC had only shown seven of the season's episodes before "Top Gear" was put on hiatus after the Clarkson controversy. The BBC now plans to air segments from the remaining episodes that have already been filmed.

BBC representatives told the broadcaster's Newsbeat that they haven't yet found a replacement for Clarkson, but that "Top Gear" will re-launch in 2016 "in a new form." A representative from BBC Two, the channel that airs "Top Gear," said the station is open to replacing Clarkson with a female host if the right candidate can be found.

"We'll definitely look at some women but it's not a driving priority," Kim Shillinglaw told Newsbeat.

Longtime "Top Gear" host Clarkson alleged punched one of the show's producers on March 4 after a day of filming the show. Clarkson was suspended by the BBC later that month pending a full investigation, and on March 25 the BBC announced that it had, "told Jeremy Clarkson today that the BBC will not be renewing his contract."
