BMW, Mini Reveal New Performance Parts

BMW is rolling out a slew of performance accessories for the X3 and X4 as well as the high-performance M3 and M4. Some of these upgrades enhance the performance of these models, like the power kits available for the X3 and X4 SUVs, while others focus on visual improvements.

Not all of these upgrades will be available in the U.S., as the power kit for the X3 and X4 only applies to the six-cylinder diesel xDrive30d versions which aren’t sold in the U.S. A sound-enhancing valve silencer is available for the X4 xDrive35i, which is sold here, allowing for adjustable sound profiles for the six-cylinder turbocharged engine. All sorts of exterior modifications for the X3 and X4 also contribute to a sportier look, including black trim pieces for the grille and mirrors; accent stripes; forged alloy wheels; and a rear spoiler in carbon-fiber.

Similar exterior upgrades are now available for the BMW M3 and M4 models, including aerodynamic bits like carbon-fiber side skirts, front and rear rear diffusers, and a rear spoiler, all of which are said to improve airflow at high speed. On the inside, an Alcantara-trimmed M Performance steering wheel is available and provides a race display like those found on Formula 1 cars.

Take a look at the photos of the BMW X4 and M4 models with these M Performance upgrades in the gallery.

Mini John Cooper Works Accessories

Performance-enhancing upgrades include a distinct JCW engine tune that increases output (Mini hasn’t released horsepower numbers) along with controllable flaps for the exhaust to make for a sportier sound. Black, 18-inch John Cooper Works wheels are also available, as are other trim pieces like JCW mirror caps, a rear spoiler, JCW floor mats, and more.

A fully-outfitted 2014 Mini Cooper S with these JCW accessories will be on display at the Essen auto show in Germany, but don’t mistake this for the factory JCW model which hasn’t yet debuted. That version, which we spied testing earlier this year, has already been previewed by a concept car, and reports suggest it will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 231 hp.
