Just a few days after the Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV coupe was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva auto show, a prototype for the open-top version has been spotted cold weather testing. With the same 740-hp 6.5-liter V-12 as the coupe, the Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV roadster will be the fastest open-top Lamborghini model ever produced.

Research

The Superveloce models get a 49-hp bump over the standard Aventador thanks to optimized Variable Valve Timing and Variable Intake systems and a lighter exhaust with less backpressure. Redline has also been raised to 8500 rpm, while torque is unchanged at 509 lb-ft. Like the coupe, we expect the seven-speed automated manual and all-wheel drive system to remain.

Other hardware expected to make it from the Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV coupe include new selectable magnetorheological dampers, a new electromechanical steering system, standard carbon ceramic brakes, and 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged wheels with Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber.

Although fitted with camouflage, the Aventador SV’s front and rear facias can be made out on this roadster prototype. We expect the coupe’s upgraded aerodynamics to carry over to the roadster as well. The coupe’s weight has been reduced by a claimed 100 pounds, and we expect the roadster to save weight too, though the total figure could be different than the coupe.
