General Motors just released photos of the new China-spec Chevrolet Cruze, just months after it revealed the exterior at the 2014 Bejing Auto Show. That said, GM isn’t willing to confirm that this is how the U.S. version will look, though it should provide a pretty good hint of what to expect, at least in terms of improved materials and switchgear, if not overall design.

There are many similarities between those shots and these new official photos. The steering wheel in both cars, for example, is sporting a new sleeker three-spoke design, while the infotainment screen is larger. The passenger-side air vent and dashboard stitching are also similar.

It appears GM has put a lot of effort into making the Cruze’s cabin a more premium and luxurious place to be. The air vents feature chrome-like edges, while the climate control knobs look to be improved. The photo showcases a black and burnt orange dual-tone treatment, which wouldn’t look out of place in Chevrolet’s flagship Impala. The press release provides somewhat vague information about dimensions, stating that the new Cruze is more spacious thanks to a cowl that’s been pushed forward, has a roof curve that’s been extended back, and smaller-displacement engines that help provide more cabin space. Look for more details close to the next-gen Cruze’s launch, which is expected sometime next year.
