Chrysler Group will henceforth be known as FCA US LLC within North America, an abbreviation that stands for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The name change aligns the company's North American outpost with its global parent company, which earlier this year was renamed Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA).

In a statement, FCA US LLC called itself, "a North American automaker with a new name and a long history." The company plans to continue the five-year growth and product plan that CEO Sergio Marchionne and other executives outlined in May.

The change to FCA US LLC won't affect any of Chrysler's U.S. management board or brands, and won't require the company to move its headquarters from Auburn Hills, Michigan. FCA N.V. is headquartered in the Netherlands. Globally, the FCA name became official in October when the company listed shares on the New York Stock Exchange.

"It's all part of the changes underway since our parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, came into being in October," FCA head of digital media Ed Garsten wrote on Chrysler's corporate blog. "Really, nothing is changing from the operations side."

In Europe, FCA N.V. also renamed one of its Italian brands to match the new corporate nomenclature. Fiat Group Automobiles SpA is now FCA Italy SpA, a change which the company said in a statement, "is intended to emphasize the fact that all Group companies worldwide are part of a single organization." Other European divisions will be renamed "over the next few months."
