While General Motors has slowly been teasing the redesigned 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, one major news agency accidentally revealed the redesigned muscle car ahead of its official debut on Saturday. CNBC's SquawkBox showed uncovered images of a pair of 2016 Chevrolet Camaro coupes on Friday, which were then shared by a few eagle-eyed forum members at GM Inside News.

The images from CNBC confirm that the styling of the new, sixth-generation 2016 Camaro is an evolution of the current car on sale, which was last revised for the 2014 model year. Moving to GM’s Alpha platform, which also underpins the Cadillac ATS sedan and coupe and CTS sedan, the redesigned Camaro will feature more aluminum chassis and suspension bits and is said to be around 200 pounds lighter than the current model.

Power for the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will come from the current C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray ’s 6.2-liter LT1 V-8. While power figures for the Camaro haven't been released, the LT1 in the Corvette makes 455 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, which would be a significant bump in power over the current Camaro’s 426-hp, 420 lb-ft 6.2-liter LS3 V-8.
