It wasn’t that long ago that the Hyundai Elantra was refreshed for the 2014 model year, but that hasn’t stopped the automaker from bringing the compact further up to date. The next-gen Elantra is already in the works, and Hyundai has confirmed to us that it will debut at the 2015 L.A. Auto Show in November.

While we don’t know any details about the all-new Elantra, we can speculate that it may undergo a transformation similar to newer Hyundais in the lineup, including the Sonata and Tucson. With that said, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the sedan wear the company’s new take on the hexagonal grille, which could make the car appear much bolder with its thick horizontal chrome slats. We can also expect newly designed headlights and sharper character lines on the new sedan. Like the Tucson, the next-gen Elantra could also come with a more upscale interior with higher-quality materials and an updated infotainment system. No powertrain details are available, but it’s possible the new Elantra could continue to follow in the footsteps of the new Tucson with a 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4. That engine is said to make 175 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, and it comes mated to a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Elantra’s last update consisted of a significant bump in horsepower and a strong interior refresh. A new 173-hp 2.0-liter engine was added, and the interior was redesigned to be quieter and nicer looking.
