Base Soul EVs offer a boatload of standard features, including navigation, rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, power windows and driver’s seat, cruise control, and a 6.6-kW on-board charger. For $36,500, the Soul EV Plus comes with unique leather seats, seat heaters for all passengers, and ventilated seats for front passengers. Upgrading to the Plus also means the Soul EV is outfitted with projection-style foglamps and power-folding exterior mirrors. Both Soul trims come standard with the UVO EV Services feature, which provides important vehicle information such as battery-level status, distance to empty, and a searching function that finds nearby charging stations. Downloading the UVO EV smartphone app also gives owners the added convenience of presetting charging time and charging level ratios, and remotely controlling the cabin's HVAC controls. 2015 Kia Soul EV© Provided by MotorTrend 2015 Kia Soul EV

The eco-friendly Soul features a 27-kW-hr lithium-ion polymer battery and an electric motor that drives the front wheels. Power is rated at 109 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque, and although official EPA numbers haven't been revealed, Kia estimates the Soul EV achieves 92/120 mpge city/highway and a range of 93 miles on one charge. Thanks to its 620-pound batter pack, the Soul EV weighs 489 pounds more than its gasoline-powered counterpart.

Arriving in October, the 2015 Soul EV will only be offered in 17 California dealerships to start, with the automaker expressing interest in offering it in the northeast region of the U.S. before exploring other markets.
