FCA to Show Jeep Grand Wagoneer to Dealers this August

Jeep has been relatively tight-lipped about the upcoming Grand Wagoneer, but that’s about to change in a few months. That’s because FiatChrysler Automobiles will provide the first sneak peek of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer to dealers in Las Vegas this August, which should lead to public teasers of the SUV until it is officially unveiled.

It’s been over 20 years since Jeep last sold a vehicle with the Grand Wagoneer nameplate. As previously reported, the new Grand Wagoneer will be a three-row, luxury SUV based on the same platform as the Dodge Durango. It’s aimed to take on premium luxury SUVs like the Land Rover Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz GL-Class. Prices could top out at over $100,000.

Jeep claims there is strong demand for premium SUVs based on sales of its top-of-the-line Grand Cherokee Summit, which often gets cross-shopped with the BMW X5.

Based on FCA’s five-year plan, the Grand Wagoneer is slated to debut in 2017 alongside the all-new Jeep Wrangler. However, recent rumors suggest that FCA is delaying the launch of at least a dozen models, including the Wrangler and new Grand Cherokee. It’s unclear if the Grand Wagoneer is also affected by the alleged delays. FCA will likely address the reported delay at the upcoming dealer meeting, including confirmation of the Grand Wagoneer’s launch.
