When Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo officially steps down from his post on October 13, things will be business as usual for the company. There will be no SUV or four-door. Nor will Ferrari make a significant bump in production, di Montezemolo said during his final press conference.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) CEO Sergio Marchionne, who will succeed di Montezemolo, was also at the conference. Both attempted to debunk much of the speculation that surfaced in the weeks leading to di Montezemolo’s resignation announcement last month. For starters, Marchionne dismissed previous reports that he wanted to increase Ferrari’s annual production from 7200 to at least 10,000 units. Marchionne, however, previously voiced his concern regarding customers who “will get tired” if they have to wait too long to take delivery of their cars. The automaker purposely limits output to maintain exclusivity and it appears it will continue to do so, at least for now.

Additionally, there will be no Ferrari-badged SUV or four-door sedan. “Marchionne wanted to build a truck,” di Montezemolo jokingly said. “But I talked him out of it.”

Marchionne also said there are no plans to integrate Ferrari into FCA, stating that “the mixing of their blood would be fatal to both.” He will, however, make it a top priority to improve Scuderia Ferrari’s performance in Formula 1. Marchionne’s dissatisfaction with Ferrari’s F1 rankings seemed to be the catalyst to di Montezemolo’s departure, which comes after leading the company for over two decades. Luca di Montezemolo reportedly will receive a severance package valued at $34.78 million. 2014 Ferrari Formula One© Provided by MotorTrend 2014 Ferrari Formula One
