Fiat 500L = Fun Italian Ride

This little Italian charmer has been quite a refreshing joy to drive over the last few weeks. The performance of the multi-air turbo is phenomenal and unexpected. For its size, the 500L is nimble and handles more like a sports car than the Fiat self-described "Urban Utility Vehicle." I highly recommend the Trekking version of this vehicle. It is a better designed model than the others offered and more rugged in appearance.

Favorite Feature : The Uconnect infotainment system is by far the most superior of any other vehicle I've owned. It seamlessly connects with your phone via advanced Bluetooth technology allowing audible text messages (which you can respond to via voice), music sync from phone to car audio, and so much more. The 3D mapping on the optional navigation system is so useful and easy to operate. Another great feature is the Beats Audio system. The folks over at Beats Audio custom designed the system for the 500L. They really put some effort into this project as the sound quality is superb. At full volume, you could easily wake up any sleeping neighborhood. The integrated subwoofer provides amazing bass depth!

Suggested Improvement : The manual transmission is superior in performance to the auto option. If you buy this vehicle, opt for the manual. The first gear ratio takes some getting used to and I would suggest an improvement for future model years. The lack of storage options is annoying. Moving the emergency/parking brake lever from the center console to a standard foot pedal would create an opportunity for a wider/deeper storage compartment in the center console area. Lastly, the turbo lag should be adjusted to accommodate the typical American driver. The European market differs greatly in this regard.
