On this week's episode of Ignition, senior features editor Johnny Lieberman tests out the 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS , the mid-engine sports car that, in theory, can rival its big brother the Porsche 911. The Cayman GTS has slightly less horsepower and weighs hundreds of pounds less than the 911, but is it actually better?

With 15 more horses than the Cayman S, the Cayman GTS comes in at 340 hp, a mere 10 hp down from the base 911. However, when you put the Cayman GTS through the paces, the numbers show the Cayman is just slightly faster. It goes from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and completes the quarter mile in 12.8 seconds at 111.8 mph. But during the figure-eight, it had a lap time of 23.8 seconds, two tenths of a second quicker than the base 911.

When you put those numbers in perspective, the Cayman GTS is actually quicker than any 911 we've ever tested, save for the Porsche 911 GT3 and Turbo models. And while speed is definitely a strong component of the new 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS, it shines in handling with little oversteer and understeer. The GTS handles what Lieberman refers to as "Miata roads" with ease.

But even with all this praise, is the 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS a better car than the Porsche 911? Check out the video aboveto see the final verdict.
