Ford has been experimenting with car-sharing services all over the globe, but its most recent one in London sounds pretty promising. Dubbed GoDrive, the car-sharing app is unique in that if offers one-way trips with guaranteed parking, and it has now entered the next phase of testing, which means certain Londoners will be able to use the app for free.

Kicking off with 50 cars parked across 20 locations across London, people who participate in the experiment can book a car through a smartphone app. Half of the fleet consists of the Focus electric, though drivers can also choose to drive the Fiesta with the 1.0-liter EcoBoost. Once the car is reserved, drivers have a five-minute grace period to familiarize themselves with the car. Once they get going, running costs are displayed on the smartphone app, with congestion fees, insurance, and fuel all included in the pay-per-minute system. After arriving at their destination, Londoners will be happy to find they have a guaranteed parking space.

Ford will be paying close attention to people’s feedback on the app, as the company will continue to add features to the app based on what others have to say about it. With this, Ford hopes to learn more about user behavior so that it could look into other options like different weekend and day-hire pricing, and on-and off-street parking.

The experiment was originally launched earlier this year, and since then, feedback has been largely positive. The pilot started as City Driving On-Demand, but has now expanded into GoDrive, with Ford inviting 2,000 people in London to register and use the app for free.

Ford continues to explore other car-sharing services all over the globe since the automaker claims the global car-sharing industry is expected to exceed $6 billion by 2020.
