Ford Recalls Nearly 600,000 Vehicles for Various Issues

Ford is recalling 591,086 vehicles in North America for various issues including a park lamp issue, an underbody heat shield, a fuel pump, and an issue with a steering gear motor.

2015 Lincoln MKZ

The Problem:Ford is recalling certain 2015 Lincoln MKZ models for an issue with the park lamps. With the headlights on, the park lamps are brighter than allowed by law and could affect the vision of other drivers. No accidents or injuries related to the issue have been reported.

The Fix: Owners can bring their affected vehicles to the dealer, which will the update the body control module to adjust park lamp intensity to meet regulations.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: The recall covers a total of 22,616 2015 Lincoln MKZ sedans, including 21,435 units in the U.S. built from February 17, 2014 through March 19, 2015 at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant.

The Problem: The automaker is recalling a small number of 2015 Ford F-150 pickups for an issue with an underbody heat shield, which may be improperly installed or missing. The issue could increase the risk of a fire. No accidents or injuries related to the issue have been reported.

The Fix: Owners can bring their affected vehicles to the dealer for an inspection. If an issue is found, the dealer will install missing components as needed.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: The recall affects a total of 91 2015 Ford F-150 pickups, including 73 units in the U.S. built January 30-31, 2015 at the Dearborn Truck Plant.

2014 Ford Focus, Edge, Escape, and Transit Connect and 2014-2015 Ford Fiesta

The Problem: Ford is recalling various models for an issue with the nickel plating on the fuel pump, which could cause the unit to seize. The issue could prevent the vehicle from starting or cause the vehicle to stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. The part number for the pump matches a unit from supplier Robert Bosch. Nissan and BMWrecalled a number of vehicles equipped with the same pump for a similar issue earlier this month.

The Fix: Owners can bring affected vehicles to the dealer to have the fuel delivery module replaced.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 50,157 2014 Ford Focus, Edge, Escape, and Transit Connect and 2014- 2015 Ford Fiesta models are being recalled.

2013-2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ; and 2015 Ford Edge

The Problem: The steering gear motor attachment bolts in certain Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, and Ford Edge models may fracture due to corrosion cracking. If that were to happen, the steering system could default to manual steering mode making the vehicle difficult to steer. Although steering wouldn’t be lost, it could increase the risk of crash. No accidents or injuries related to the issue have been reported.

The Fix: Owners can bring affected vehicles to the dealer to have the steering gear motor attachment bolts replaced with new bolts. Damaged steering gears will be replaced as needed.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: A total of 518,313 vehicles including 487,301 units in the U.S. are included in the recall. The recall includes certain 2013- 2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models as well as the 2015 Ford Edge.
