It's been almost two months since Johan de Nysschen left his post at Infiniti to head up Cadillac, and now Infiniti has announced his replacement. Roland Krüger, former BMW senior vice president in charge of the German sales region, will succeed de Nysschen as president of Infiniti and senior vice president for Nissan.

Krüger will be based at Infiniti's headquarters in Hong Kong, and report to Nissan president and CEO Carlos Ghosn. Infiniti chairman and Nissan chief planning officer Andy Palmer temporarily assumed the role, but he too left the company recently to lead Aston Martin. "Roland Krüger has a consistent record of high performance in the premium automotive sector," said Ghosn in a release. "He brings unique leadership skills that will accelerate Infiniti's progress in the global premium market."

Infiniti has a thing for acquiring former German luxury brand bosses. Before he started working at Infiniti, de Nysschen was head of Audi of America. During his tenure at Infiniti, de Nysschen revamped the brand's nomenclature to mirror the naming schemes of other luxury brands, and also aimed to turn Infiniti into a more performance-oriented luxury marque. As a former BMW exec, Krüger may have been brought onboard at Infiniti to further that last goal.
