Hyundai Creta Crossover Previewed in Teaser Sketch

Just a few days after announcing that its new subcompact crossover will be called the Hyundai Creta, Hyundai released a sketch previewing the styling of this new model that launches later this year.

Research

This new small SUV closely mimics the look of the Hyundai ix25 concept (pictured below) revealed last year at the 2014 Beijing auto show. Hyundai’s hexagonal corporate grille appears prominently up front, along with swept-back headlights and a front fascia reminiscent of the larger Hyundai Santa Fe Sport crossover. Though the proportions are a bit exaggerated in this sketch, we can see that the Creta will have a fairly standard, 4-door crossover profile, with black lower body cladding and a rising character line along the side.

Hyundai is calling this new crossover a “global product,” meaning that it may launch in Europe and Asia before it comes to the U.S. Given the onslaught of new small crossover competitors like the Honda HR-V, Chevrolet Trax, and Mazda CX-3, though, Hyundai is highly likely to eventually bring the Creta to our shores.

Stay tuned for more information on the Hyundai Creta as we near its global debut scheduled for later this year.
