The original "Top Gear" crew has found a new home with Amazon Prime, but the show they leave behind still needs to solidify its host lineup. After canning Jeremy Clarkson earlier this year, the BBC began the process of restaffing the show. The network hired Chris Evans last month, and according to new reports, is now courting 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button to fill another seat.

"An announcement is imminent," one source told the Daily Mail regarding Button's new TV role. Button has appeared on "Top Gear" twice and is said to be good friends with Evans. The announcement comes as the 35-year-old Button shrugs off rumors of his retirement. MotorTrend Image© Provided by MotorTrend MotorTrend Image

Back in May, we reported that Jodie Kidd from "Classic Car Show" was also being considered for a spot on the show, and it looks like she still may be in the running. BBC director general Tony Hall has mentioned he'd like to see more women on the show, so this could be the right opportunity for her to step in. Kidd has appeared on the show before, scoring a record lap time during the "star in a reasonably priced car" feature.

The BBC refuses to comment on the "speculation," the Daily Mail reports. But it also won't deny that talks are taking place with Button.
