Attendees at this weekend’s Tour de France bicycle race will get an opportunity to see a Jaguar F-Pace prototype in action. Yes, it’ll be camouflaged since Jaguar is waiting until the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show this September to fully reveal its upcoming crossover.

The F-Pace prototype will serve as a support vehicle for Team Sky, which includes rider Chris Froome, winner of the 2013 Tour de France. In preparation for the race, Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations team fabricated a bike rack customized for Team Sky’s PInarello Bolide TT bikes. Froome reportedly used the prototype as a support vehicle at his training camp, and the team will commission the crossover for the first stage of the race.

The prototype is covered in a Team Sky-themed wrap, though the crossover’s overall shape and a few design details are apparent. The F-Pace is expected to look similar to the C-X17 concept, which Jaguar revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt auto show. Jag's crossover will also feature hits of the F-Type, too, as proven by the crossover’s taillights teased earlier this year.

Following its reveal this September, the F-Pace is expected to reach showrooms in early 2016. Powertrains should include a turbocharged, 2.0-liter I-4 and a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6. A diesel and a hybrid are also expected.
