Research

2006-2012 Land Rover Range Rover

The Problem: Land Rover is recalling 74,648 last-generation Range Rover SUVs from model year 2006 to 2012. The recalled SUVs have front brake hoses with durability issues that could rupture, leak brake fluid, and result in the failure of the front left and right brake. The rear brakes will still be functional, but the SUV’s stopping distance will increase. Hose failures will also affect brake pedal feel and will trigger a “check brake fluid” warning message in the instrument cluster.

The Fix: Beginning next month, dealers will replace the left and right front brake hoses, free of charge. Customers can call Land Rover at 800-637-6837 for more information.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: Land Rover states that the recall includes 74,648 vehicles built from April 15, 2005, to September 4, 2012.

2013-2014 Land Rover Range Rover/Range Rover Sport

The Problem: Affected vehicles may have a brake vacuum hose that was improperly installed at the factory. A hole could be worn into the hose, resulting in a loss of braking assistance. Stopping the SUV will require more effort and could increase the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the hose and correctly install it if necessary. Damaged hoses will be replaced free of charge. Repairs are expected to being next month.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: Included in the recall are model-year 2013-2013 Range Rover SUVs produced from August 16, 2012, to January 8, 2014. Also affected are 2014 Range Rover Sport SUVs. The recall affects 24,679 vehicles.

2012-2015 Jaguar XK

The Problem: Affected vehicles may have front side parking lamps that inadvertently turn off after approximately 5 minutes. The lamps are required to meet federal regulations.

The Fix: Jaguar dealers will fix the software that controls the lamps, free of charge. The recall starts next month.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: The recall affects model-year 2012- 2015 XK vehicles produced from March 4, 2011, to Mach 20, 2014. Appoximately 4787 vehicles are affected.
