Kia released photos of the stunning Sportspace concept last week, and now Kia has released more details on this sexy long-roof that’s set to debut at the Geneva auto show.

Kia Details Sportspace Concept Before Official Geneva Debut

Thought to be a preview of the next-generation Kia Optima midsize sedan, the Kia Sportspace concept is a four-passenger wagon that shows the natural progression of Kia’s design language. The interior presents a futuristic, minimalist design with a large central infotainment screen, exotic materials for the seats and door panels, and plenty of space for four passengers and their luggage. Size-wise, the Kia Sportspace concept is only slightly larger than the current Kia Optima, with about an inch more length and width and a 1-inch lower height.

It is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injection four-cylinder engine that sends 246 hp to the front wheels. We expected something a bit more revolutionary considering that the current Kia Optima also uses a 2.0-liter turbo four with 274 hp, but it’s possible that this powertrain in the Sportspace is a next-generation version of this engine optimized for lighter weight and greater efficiency.

The Kia Sportspace concept will officially debut at the Geneva auto show next week, so keep an eye out for more information about this attractive concept and what it means for Kia’s future.
