The latest Italian race car has been revealed at The Quail during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this weekend. Based on the street car, the Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo is prepped for racing with a bump in power, reduced weight, and revised aerodynamics.

Powered by the street car’s 5.2-liter V-10, the Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo gets a power bump from 602 hp to 620 hp. While the horsepower bump is modest, weight reduction is significant.

With its hybrid carbon fiber/aluminum chassis and stripped interior, the racecar tips the scales at a claimed 2800 pounds – 850 pounds lighter than the manufacturer claim for the last Huracán LP 610-4 we drove. The switch from all-wheel-drive to rear-drive also contributes to the weight reduction. Lamborghini claims the racecar has a power-to-weight ratio of just 4.5 pounds per horsepower.

The Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo was developed in conjunction with Dallara Engineering, which was founded by former Lamborghini Miura lead engineer Giampaolo Dallara who worked closely with the new project. The new racecar will debut in the one-make 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series in North America, Europe, and Asia. North American events include Virginia International Park (August 22-24), Road Atlanta (October 1-4), and the World Finals in Sepang Malaysia (November 20-21).

The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 by Ad Personam, which highlights the brand’s “made-to-order” program, was also shown at The Quail. Ad Personam allows clients to specify their Lamborghini’s materials, custom colors, interior and exterior trim, and more. The Aventador LP 700-4 Ad Personam features semi-aniline leather, Alcantara, Lamborghini’s Forged Composite carbon fiber material, custom stitching, and more.
