Land Rover released details and photos of the upcoming Discovery Sport model slated for release in 2015. Land Rover revealed the Discovery will come with a two-seat third row as standard, providing a sizeable bump in usable space for the base model.

Land Rover markets the current-generation Discovery has the LR4 in the U.S., and this will be its fifth year of production. Some much-needed updates are coming to the LR4/Discovery nameplate, which will be one of the last models in the Land Rover lineup to receive a recent redesign.

Much like the Range Rover lineup which has four distinct models under one nameplate, the Discovery will feature a diversified collection of models for a wide range of tastes and budgets. Land Rover will offer both a standard- and a stretched-wheelbase Discovery, setting its sights on the BMW X5 and Mercedes GL, respectively. The Freelander, or LR2 as we know it in the US, has been with us entirely too long in its current form. It will most likely be developed into a more luxury-focused variant of the Range Rover Evoque, slotting in the Discovery lineup as the entry-level SUV.

The Discovery Sport pictured in the photos wears quite a bit of camouflage, but the wrap allows us to peek inside thanks to carefully placed graphics that make the rear end appear see-through. Behind the rear wheel well we can see the new, standard third row, which will offer two additional seats for a total of seven. As for the car's exterior, we can see the car's outline fairly well but many details are covered by the camo. Expect a few styling cues from the Discovery Vision concept to find their way onto the Discovery Sport when it launches in 2015.
