Lotus recently announced a new program that will allow new customers the option of picking up their new car at the factory. The Lotus Evora still remains the only vehicle available in the U.S., but customers in other markets can also have the same experience if they buy an Elise or Exige.

Lotus Evora Buyers Can Now Opt for Factory Delivery

The program is similar to European delivery experiences offered by other carmakers like Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Once customers arrive at Lotus headquarters in Hethel, U.K., the day starts with refreshments and a tour of the factory where each vehicle is handmade. Next, visitors head to the Classic Team Lotus center, which houses a number of historic Lotus vehicles including a number of Team Lotus race cars.

Once the customers take delivery of their vehicle, they are left with two options. They can either depart the factory or continue the day on the Hethel test track. There, they will have the opportunity to test out their new car with a Lotus instructor in the passenger seat to coach and provide tips.

All cars come with a photoshoot of the event, a Lotus print signed by Clive Chapman, a portable battery charger, car cover, and a special owner’s manual with special documentation of the vehicle’s build.

Price for the delivery experience is around $1300. Adding the track portion tacks on about $300 to the price. Packages are available to purchase at Lotus dealers, and do note that airfare and lodging falls on the customer. If you're interested in getting an Evora, you'd better hurry, as Lotus announced that it's not offering a 2015 model. The 2014 Evora is still on sale for the next few months, and will return for the 2016 model year.
