Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe Teased Ahead of Frankfurt Debut

Last week, Mercedes-AMG teased that "something fast" was coming. Now we know what that "something" is. The automaker revealed camouflaged photos of what can only be the upcoming Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe.

We speculated that it might be an AMG GT variant based on the sound. Since the GT and C63 sedan share the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine, we were sort of on the right track. Differences between this car and its four-door sibling include enormous front fender flares and side mirrors mounted on the doors instead of the A-pillars. In true AMG fashion, the coupe features large front brake discs with bronze-finished calipers.

The standard C63 sedan is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 tuned to 469 hp and 473 lb-ft of torque, while the C63 S gets that same engine tuned to 503 hp and 516 lb-ft. You can likely expect those same engines to appear in the coupe version backed by a seven-speed automatic transmission. You can also expect a sportier suspension with adjustable damping and an electronic locking differential on the S model.

We last heard we'd see both the standard C-Class coupe and the C63 coupe at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, so we won't have to wait too long to find out just how fast AMG's latest creation is.
