Mercedes has long celebrated its history of victories at the legendary Mille Miglia race. This time, its celebration comes in the form of the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Special Edition "Mille Miglia 417" roadster.

With this new model, Mercedes is commemorating its victory 60 years ago, when drivers John Fitch and Kurt Gessl piloted a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL to a fifth-place overall win at the famed 1955 Mille Miglia race, finishing ahead of an entire field of purpose-built race cars and sports cars. The 300SL ran with the “417” on its flanks as the race registration number, and just so happened to begin the race at 4:17 in the morning. To commemorate this important anniversary in Mercedes’ history, a special edition SL-Class roadster is being offered for modern-day customers. The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Special Edition “Mille Miglia 417” adds a healthy dose of visual flair to either an SL400 or SL500 roadster.

The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Mille Miglia receives a red-over-black contrasted color accent treatment, with matte black paint on the roof and red accents on the front and rear spoiler. Red brake calipers hide behind the black AMG Sport wheels, which feature a matching red line around the edge. On the interior, the steering wheel gains two red sections, and all leather piping and surfaces feature deviated red stitching. Just in case you forget what version of the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class you're driving, the headrests feature an emblazoned “SL Mille Miglia” badge.
