Why settle for a Black Series when you can have something more special from AMG? That special something is this 1998 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR roadster, which is headed to the auction block at next month’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

This roadster is undoubtedly a dream car for any Mercedes-AMG fan. It’s not much different from the CLK-GTR race car that made its debut during the FIA GT championship season, a car that AMG reported developed in just four months. FIA rules at the time required Mercedes to produce road-going versions of the race car. Only 25 were built, with five of those units being roadsters including the one headed to auction.

There’s its hand-built 6.9-liter V-12 that churns out over 600 hp and is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. Its carbon fiber chassis, intricate suspension set up, and carbon-fiber disc brakes still impress today as much as they did in the mid-1990s.

The interior looks relatively comfortable, with seats wrapped in leather, air conditioning, and a radio.

Bonhams doesn’t mention how many miles this rare roadster has racked up, though it does appear to be in mint condition. It’s estimated to sell for at least $2.1 million, though there's a strong chance it’ll sell for more.
