BMW and Nissan are each recalling thousands of cars due to a faulty fuel pump. Automotive News reports the affected cars use a fuel pump from supplier Bosch. The pumps could fail, causing the car to stall or not start. Meanwhile, FCA is voluntarily recalling a number of Dodge Viper SRT sports cars for a problem with the door handle assembly, which can malfunction and open unintentionally if water gets into the door latch switch.

2014-2015 BMW Models

The Problem: Certain 2014-2015 BMW models, including 2 Series, 3 Series, and 4 Series cars, are equipped with a fuel pump with improperly nickel-plated components. The components may fail, potentially causing the vehicle to stall without warning or not start. 2014 BMW 228i© Provided by MotorTrend 2014 BMW 228i

The Fix: BMW will notify owners to take their cars to a dealer, where the pump will be replaced free of charge. The recall is expected to be carried out starting April 30. For more information, owners can call BMW at 1-800-525-7417.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: The recall affects roughly 70,500 vehicles globally, including 18,054 vehicles in the U.S. This campaign covers certain 2014 model-year 228i Coupe, M235i Coupe, 320i, 320xi, 328i, 328xi, 335i, 335xi, ActiveHybrid 3, 328xi Sports Wagon, 428i Coupe, 428xi Coupe, 435i Coupe, 435xi Coupe, 428i Convertible, 428xi Convertible, 435i Convertible, 328xi Gran Turismo, and 335xi Gran Turismo models; and 2015 model-year 428i Gran Coupe, 428xi Gran Coupe, and 435i Gran Coupe models.

2014 Nissan Rogue

The Fix: Nissan will tell owners to bring their vehicles into a dealer for a free fuel pump replacement. The recall is expected to begin sometime this month. Owners can contact Nissan for more information at 1-800-647-7261.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: The recall affects a total of 76,242 2014 model-year Nissan Rogue crossovers in the U.S., along with 18,789 units in Canada. The campaign covers Rogue models built between June 11, 2013, and June 7, 2014.

2013-2014 Dodge Viper SRT

The Problem: Certain 2013-2014 Dodge Viper sports cars use a sealant around the electronic door switches that doesn't provide consistent moisture protection. The switches can short-circuit if exposed to moisture and the doors can open unintentionally at low speed. FCA is aware of three warranty claims related to door switch malfunctions, but no accidents.

The Fix: FCA will notify owners and schedule service, where the sealant will be replaced free of charge. Owners can call FCA at 1-800-853-1403 for more information.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: The recall affects 1,762 2013-2014 Dodge Viper SRT cars globally, including 1,451 units in the U.S., 160 in Canada, 17 in Mexico, and 59 outside the NAFTA region.
