This weekend, the new Acura NSX will serve as the official pace car in the 93rd Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Also making the Pikes Peak run are the ILX, TLX, previous-generation NSX, and Honda's HPD ARX-04b LMP2 racer.

The red-and-white NSX has been specially prepared for the race, although it still features the car's familiar twin-turbo V-6 engine, three electric motors, and nine-speed dual-clutch. Behind the wheel of the NSX will sit Sage Marie, senior manager of American Honda Public Relations and two-time Pikes Peak competitor. MotorTrend Image© Provided by MotorTrend MotorTrend Image

Unfortunately, we won't see the Acura NSX Spied Near MT Office" target="_blank">NSX pushed to its limit on the road, but the other competitors in the race will be in for a wild ride. Completing the Mitsubishi MIEV Evolution III Track Test" target="_blank">Pikes Peak course is no easy feat, as the track has been known to be particularly unforgiving even for well-equipped race cars. The 12.3-mile course starts at an altitude of 9,400 feet and finishes all the way up at the 14,110-foot summit. There are 156 turns along the way.

As the NSX makes its way to the top of the mountain, 24 cameras will capture all the action. For those in the area before the event, the NSX will be available for viewing at the Fan Fest in downtown Colorado Springs, Colo., on June 26. The race itself begins June 28.
